With Mother’s Day right around the corner, it’s important to start planning out how you’ll celebrate the big day. More than a few restaurants are running Mother’s Day specials, but sometimes the best treat is a home-cooked meal. The perfect way to celebrate Mother’s Day is an at-home brunch cooked with plenty of love.
So when it comes to brunch, what’s the best way to spice things up? If you’re a fan of coffee and Bloody Marys, this recipe is the ideal way to kick off your Mother’s Day; a “Morning Mary.” Although it might sound a little off-putting combining tomato juice and coffee, this is one of those recipes you must try before making a final judgment. It may surprise you just how perfect these two brunch delicacies combine.

- ⅓ cup (75ml) cold coffee
- ⅓ cup (75ml) tomato juice
- 1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon sugar syrup
- grinding of black pepper
- dash of Worcestershire sauce optional
- dash of Tabasco sauce optional
MORNING MARY INSTRUCTIONS
Fill a glass with ice, add the coffee, lemon juice, tomato juice and the sugar syrup and stir well.
If using, add the Worcestershire and tabasco and stir again. Sprinkle with freshly ground black pepper and garnish with a stalk of celery, twist of lemon ad sprig of rosemary.
